About Nova Training and Consulting

Nova Training and Consulting was founded by Christine Pohlkamp. Christine began her career as a professional trainer with Dun and Bradstreet in 1981. She worked her way up to the position of National Training Manager before leaving in 1990 to launch her own training company--Christine Pohlkamp and Associates--which has since evolved into Nova Training and Consulting.

In 1987 Christine received her diploma in Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University. As an outstanding graduate of the program Christine was invited by St. F.X.U. to be involved in the delivery of that same diploma program at various institutions across Canada. Now, training professionals across the country benefit from her expertise in the training field.

As a life long learner, Christine has kept up with her studies to further her knowledge in the equine field. She graduated with Distinction from the University of Guelph with her Diploma in Equine Studies in 2010. This education has assisted her in the running of her own horse breeding farm but also as an co- instructor in the Diploma program teaching the Equine Business Management course, a 12 week online course. Christine has also created a two week online program for Equine Guelph in Equine Biosecurity which was delivered in the spring of 2012. This was on the Desire 2 Learn platform www.desire2learn.com.

When she is not training for either university Christine works with a broad range of public and private sector organizations to help them reach their training objectives. Some of the topics that clients ask Christine to facilitate include; Communication and Listening Skills, Time Management, Supervisory skills, Customer Service, Train the Trainer, Presentation Skills, Interviewing and Selection and Team Building.

Christine also provides a consulting service to her client partners. These consulting services include: mystery shopping, time management coaching, management coaching, preparing needs assessments and evaluation strategies and assistance in hiring and coaching employees in various skills.

Through the years she has developed an extensive network of training consultants, Christine is known for collaborating with these and other professionals to produce and deliver the finest possible programs for her clients.

When not working in the training field, Christine runs her horse breeding farm with Friesians and Paints in Lake Egmont NS, plus re-enacts the war of 1812 as a follower of Tecumseh.
